Sign the petition: Investigate the U.S. bombing of a Doctors Without Borders hospital

Despite my reservations regarding the effectiveness of this petition,
I signed. I signed in order to add my voice of concern regarding the
enormous numbers of lives being thrown away in this insane War on
Terror.
But investigation will result in nothing more than finger pointing and
the usual disclaimers. If we want to do something positive, something
that might begin a process of ending this world-wide murder, we can
begin putting pressure on our government to ban the sales of weapons
to foreign nations or to Terrorist Groups(Freedom Fighters). We can
demand that our government lead the way to the table to negotiate
peace. We can pressure Congress to ship food and supplies for
rebuilding, to the people we've been killing. We can mount a campaign
declaring that Peace begets Peace. We can insist that our military
budget be cut in half. It is already proving that being over stocked
in weapons is not the answer to winning. We need to be clear that
killing our so called enemies of freedom is not ridding us of them,
but instead is creating an even stronger, more determined resistance.
And most important, we must begin to deal with our own national
violence. In my lifetime, inch by inch I've witnessed our society
becoming more violent. It is appearing to be accepted as part of who
we are. Violence is in our daily conversation, it shows up when we
are stressed, when someone crowds ahead of us, whenever something
affects us and our loved ones. Violence is becoming expected in our
games and sports. No longer do we just swagger out of the movie house
after watching John Wayne or Clint Eastwood take on an entire gang of
rustlers or bad guys, but instead we swagger and shove our way in many
of our daily activities.
We are allowing a bully attitude to become part of our American
Culture. Sure, we've always been pushy and impatient as a People, but
in prior times we at least tried to put on a kind face. Now we snarl
and shove our way through life.
President Obama is right in one thing, reports of mass shootings are
becoming routine. What we need to hear from him now, is a solution.
Or at least a beginning of a solution. Yes, shutting down the purse,
and big flapping mouth of the NRA would be a small step, but that is
only a symptom of the underlying violent people we are becoming.
While we stomp and shout and wave our bombs at the Terrorists we are
led to believe are waiting to attack us, we are fast becoming our own
nation of terrorists. Think of how many nations around the planet who
would rejoice if America suddenly went away.
Since we even spy on our so called friends, and bully them into doing
our bidding, would they come to our aid if we lost our strangle hold?
I wonder what history, if there is to be a history, will have to say
about the Great American Empire.
