Like cabbies or Wall-Mart workers, farmers are merely one more natural
resource to be exploited in the Empire's lust to control all in its
way.
When I was young, the country was a patchwork of small farms.
Families working the land and making a honest living. But today, what
farm land has not been paved over, is mostly sprawling corporate
farms. Low paid workers putting in long hours without any medical or
vacation allowance.
We view ourselves as citizens of this greatest of all nations, but in
truth we are merely one more natural resource to be harvested by the
Empire. Like cattle, hogs, sheep, chickens, we are looked upon for
what we can contribute to the Empire's wealth. And even when our
usefulness as workers comes to an end, we are warehoused in expensive
Retirement and Assisted Living Facilities, and our last remaining
dollars are vacuumed up.
