Bob and All Who Hoped Against Hope That Obama Would Demonstrate Leadership
Of course it is easier to sound bold when your in a place where you
can do no harm to your Masters. From here in my remote hideout on the
Great Olympic Peninsula, I can rattle sabres, shoot off my big mouth,
paw the earth...since I have ten acres to paw, and in general sound
like a rabble-rouser. But that is all due to the fact that I'm
risking nothing. What would I sound like if I were told that if I did
not tone it down, I'd find my social security and state retirement
checks withheld and my home in foreclosure?
All of us have that place where we must decide if we stand on our
principles or draw back to protect our loved ones. Obama is no
different. Except that he chose to stick his neck in the noose.
Perhaps he was caught up in his own hype. Perhaps he really believed
he could ride forward on his White Stallion and change the world with
a mighty swing of his Nobel Peace Prize. But for nearly 7 years he
has been reeled in by those who are the real power in this Empire.
I chuckled when I read the post calling for Michael Moore for
president. I'm glad it was all in good fun, because I would never
want to send someone I admire into the Maelstrom.
Each of us have that time in our lives when we come to believe that we
are courageous and can speak our minds freely. Most of us learn the
hard way that Freedom is not so easy a thing to cling to. But as I
say, even though I have a measure of admiration and some respect for
Obama the man, as president he is busy learning a hard lesson. It
will be interesting to see if he can put as brave a face on his
affairs, like Bill Clinton has done. Will he be given the same red
carpet treatment by his Masters? Or will his complexion keep him on
the outside.
Time will tell.
