So we disagree, Bob. That's what makes the world go round.
First, this world you prefer to live in was once upon a time nothing
more than a dream. If it had not been for Dreamers, we would still be
living under some King or Despot, trembling whenever the Kings
soldiers came to take what the King wanted.
So if you don't like my use of Oligarchy, give me some alternatives
that pleases you more. I call it that because this nation was the
product of some very bright White Men, Landowners who were tired of
having the Kings soldiers take away whatever the King wanted. But
these White Men did not trust what they considered the Riff Raff,
those men who were in the hire of the Landed Gentry. Negroes and
Indians were not to be trusted in the running of the new government.
Nor were women...of any color. Included later on to the ranks of the
excluded were Chinese, Japanese and Mexicans. That left White Men
over 21 years of age, Landholders or possessors of substantial wealth.
In brief, an Oligarchy, a government of the privileged few, ruling
over the rest of the people. Despite all the changes, this government
still serves the Wealthy descendants of those original
Revolutionaries, above the needs of the Masses.
While I have read smatterings of Karl Marx, my favorite mentor is
Howard Zinn. His history book, A People's History of the United
States, clearly lays out how this nation came to be what it is today.
Finally Bob, I too am living in the "real" world. But one thing I
have that you appear not to have are my dreams. I can live here, and
I can still dream of a better life for all mankind. And I can dream
that we Humans have the collective knowledge to maintain Planet Earth
as our Garden of Eden.
