What a fine kettle of fish we've gotten ourselves into.
Perhaps history will declare this to be "The confused generation". For all the reasons you touch on and more, we tend to work at odds with our own best interests. Those very same people we've mentioned who do not want to take anything that some other person needs worse than they, will turn around and tell us about the real steal they found at their local Wal-Mart. Even as they are complaining about the local merchants going out of business. And why do they believe our economy is in the toilet? Because of those greedy unions, the very unions that are not organizing Wal-Mart, where they are spending their money, sending it out of town and causing local shops to close. Oops! I think I'm repeating myself.
