debate or debacle?

Tonight, Saturday, January 7, 2012, I sat before my TV and took in the latest performance of the Republican's Best.; We are in deep doodoo.; But even before I cry over the Grand Old Party's Finest; I would point out that there was no debate. Look at the following:; Debate:; Noun: A formal discussion on a particular topic in a public meeting or legislative assembly; in which opposing arguments are put forward.; Verb: Argue about (a subject); esp. in a formal manner.; Synonyms: noun. discussion - dispute - argument - disputation; verb. dispute - discuss - argue - deliberate - canvass; Noun: A formal discussion on a particular topic in a public meeting or legislative assembly; in which opposing arguments are put forward.; Verb: Argue about (a subject); esp. in a formal manner.; Synonyms: noun. discussion - dispute - argument - disputation; verb. dispute - discuss - argue - deliberate - canvass; Debacle:; A debacle is an event that turns out as a disaster.; To my waiting ears; no debate ever took place. I suspect that these Buffoons have no idea what a debate entails. They are so full of themselves and so eager to show up the other contestants that no debate could ever take place.; Trashing seems to come naturally to them. If I were Obama; I would pay to have these arrogant; misinformed fools "debate" one another in every city in America; in full view of TV audiences.; I would try to keep these farces out of the International News. It might tend to make other nations think we were a ship of fools.; Carl Jarvis

"Labor is prior to, and independent of, capital. Capital is only the fruit of labor, and could never have existed if labor had not first existed. Labor is the superior of capital, and deserves much the higher consideration.  Capital has its rights, which are as worthy of protection as any other rights."

Abraham Lincoln - 1861
