Perhaps if we return to those God Fearing Good Old Days that conservatives love to dream about, perhaps then we could say that God would keep us from harm. But you know how it is. God can be a very angry God. And now that Americans have strayed away from His teachings and are embracing same sex marriages and allowing the Races to mix, and stuff like that, God is going to have to take steps to put us right again. Far right.
We can look forward to those loving days like when Columbus brought Christianity to the Savages in India...or whatever. Or love and peace like we had in America until those pushy Yankees broke up our plantations and turned our loving Coloreds against us.
Or the Christian Charity we showed to children when we allowed them to work in the factories alongside their mothers, thus ensuring that Mom would not need to pay a baby sitter. And dad was in the mine...if he didn't die of Black Lung, for 12 hours a day, keeping him out of trouble. And the family had Sunday off so they could all show up in church to thank the Lord for the goodness of their company bosses.
Those are the good old days that certain unnamed presidential candidates would have us return to.
