Right.  We read the same information, but internalize it based on our current influences.  When I was a Christian, I would read the news differently than I do as an Agnostic.  I am certain that Obama takes in information and then weighs it based on what his Masters tell him to believe.
I'm being serious.  Does it matter if our Master is Jesus Christ, Mohamed, Wall Street or The Big Bang?
It is our point of reference that determines what we call "Truth".
My personal spin is that we must learn to take in what is going on about us and then trust our own instincts rather than having to look to others, or to some imaginary "All Knowing Being", whether that be God or Wall Street.

You know that just after he was elected, Obama was reading Steve Coll's
extensive history of Afghanistan. But what he learned from that book
obviously had no effect on U.S. policy. If you look at the way the
government has handled our financial crisis, knowing our history has had no
effect on U.S. financial policy either. U.S. policy seems to be driven by
something other than knowledge of history or of cause and effect.

Hi all,
The way I see it, we have at least two tragedies here. the first and most
obvious is the killing of more and more innocent civilians by the American
military. The second is that each time this occurs, more of the local
populations impacted as well as other Muslims are encouraged to join al
Qaeda.

Below is the BARD citation of a book I recently finished reading. Malcolm
Nance argues that Islam has been badly miss-used by Bin Laden and other Al
Qaeda leaders with the goals of taking potshots at America and fomenting an
Islamic civil war. He also Argues that George W. Bush acted in many ways
that helped forward Al Qaeda's mission. He says that Obama is taking the
first steps to right some of the wrongs perpetrated by George W. Bush.
Keep in mind that this book was written in 2009. In hindsight, it is a
damned shame that Obama ignored at least half of Malcolm Nance's advice.
Nance says we should cut way down on our military presence in the middle
east and concentrate on winning the hearts and minds of the local
populations. Given all the recent drone sstrikes and the killing of innocent
civilians, this ain't gonna happen any time soon. Hey, Mr. President! Will
you ever learn to listen to folks like Mr. Nance who have spent years
studying Islam and the populations of nations like Afghanistan and Pakistan?

Heck, I thought that's why we Americans hired folks like Mr. Nance. this was
a most worthwhile read.
Finally, I put the word jihad into the BARD search box and came up with a
number of other very interessting titles some of which I plan to read.
