It's WCB convention time!

Around noon today we'll point the old Ford truck South toward Vancouver, Washington and join up with our many dear friends from across the state for our annual WCB convention.  Some want to call it a conference.  Okay.  So, let them.  To my way of thinking it's a lot of silliness over nothing.
Convention, conference, conclave.  Say, do Christians still hold Retreats?  Maybe we should call it the WCB Retreat?  But that sort of hints at running away from the world.  We do pull together and do some regrouping
and a little regroping, if the truth were known.
Nonetheless, this is that gathering where decisions are made and directions are set which will impact blind people in our state for not only the coming year, but perhaps for years to come.  It's serious business this year.  Our very separate services for the blind may be dismantled.  Our talking book library my be crippled.  Our school for the blind may be under attack.  We already know that the Deaf Blind are in a fight for their lives.
Frankly I just don't care what folks want to name it, what I am hoping is that in these most critical times we blind folks will bring massive energy to Vancouver and it will cause a "Big Bang" that will be heard and felt across our state.
