Why is it that we can be so smug and wise when we look back in History, but we are so stupid and blind to what is occurring all around us?
A witch hunt is a witch hunt, is a witch hunt...
When the Second World War ended we Americans went about proclaiming that we would never again allow anyone or any nation to hunt down and exterminate other people as the Germans did to the Jews. Forgetting what we had done to the American Indian, we stuck out our Christian chests with pride and set out to do good in the world.
We hardly got past the war when we began to hunt down the Evil Commie's. But we still held a grudge or two against the Japs and we had begun to not like those Mexican Illegal's, either. Queers were always fair game, as were uppity Blacks. We did bully our women, too. Now we are leveling our aim at anyone who "looks Eastern".
But thank goodness we learned our lessons from those Dark Days back in Witch Hunt times.
