Whether we keep our eyes and ears open, or whether we pretend to shut the world out, crazy events are whirling all around us.
I'm pretty certain that none of us can enter a "Make Believe Land". We've already eaten from the Fruit of the Tree of Knowledge.
So the trick is to avoid becoming depressed over that which we have no control.
In some ways we are merely passengers on this Ship of Fools. Yet we do have some influence over those family and friends close to us. How we conduct ourselves, the face we present to our loved ones, may well be a positive influence in their lives.
Besides, we do what we do and believe what we believe because we know that it is the right thing. Being true to ourselves is uplifting, not depressing.
We gather in all of the information that we can because it provides us with deeper understanding and helps uphold what we believe. It also gives us balance to defend against the overload of misinformation being dumped on us by the corporate media.
Above all, we must keep an open mind and a lively sense of humor.
I love Michael Moore and Jim Hightower and others like them.
If we are going to Hell in a hand basket, I want to be able to laugh over the sight of the likes of George W. Bush trying to figure out why Saint Peter has horns.
