that pesky old liberal press...

Subject: that pesky old liberal press...

So how did we come to this place?  What passes for "Thinking" today would have been considered crazy 100 years ago.
We first were programmed to believe that we had a Free Press and we did not deal in propaganda.  That was the beginning of propaganda.
Years ago I had friends who damned the newspapers as being too liberal.  I tried pointing out that these Liberal Papers were owned by large corporations who catered to other corporations for their advertising dollars.  I suggested that the papers could not be both liberal and bow to their conservative masters.  My friends did not listen.  But they quoted that Liberal Press when it came to believing we were allowing government to become too big, and socialistic.  They believed that Liberal Press when it told them that the lazy, stupid welfare recipients were dragging our nation toward the brink of bankruptcy.  They believed the undertones in the Liberal Press that somehow Blacks and Latinos were more [prone to crime and laziness than good, upstanding White people.  They sure bought in on the Liberal Press's belief that Unions were controlling our elections.
And in all of this, there was no wide-spread media coverage telling folks other sides to these stories.
The Empire's Pied Piper is the Mass Media.  And we are those innocent little children dancing along behind...to God knows where.
And God ain't talking.

Carl,
Yes, that may be true…but my point was additionally that this kind of person, constituent, is ripe for the polluting. They feel this way in their darkest heart of hearts (I won't even use the word "mind"), and these so-called leaders simply galvanize those beliefs and prejudices and give them a voice in the public forum covered by the media.

Alice,
Even as Humans are busy polluting our planet, so is the Ruling Class polluting our minds.

Because an alarming number of their constituents agree with them…that's the really scary and tragic part...

Alice,
I avoided watching the posturing and preening of the Photo Op boys.  How is it that their constituents can't see what they are doing to our nation?

Hillary might not be my favorite person, not even my favorite secretary of state, and I admit straight out that I have not read the article Dick posted.
But I heard part of the hearings broadcast, and all I can say is good for her for showing annoyance and anger in the face of those lying, scheming, language-manipulating, blame throwing based solely on which party she belongs to bastards.
I reserve the right to alter that opinion upon further reading and information, but somehow, I doubt that will be necessary.
So, so far at least, go Hillary, and give them hell.
