Someone suggested that we just rise up and take away all the money held by only one and a half percent of the population.
At first flush it sounds pretty good.
We'll ask real nice and then just go ahead and take it from them. And after all, that's how they got it in the first place. They threatened, they lied, they hired bully boys to whip us into shape, they controlled wages and prices and even the number of jobs. And then they blamed us for the mess they got us in.
But the problem is that once we beat them up and take our money back, nothing will have changed. There really is no such thing as "good bullies".
Every time people have thrown off the chains of oppression they end up with new Masters, including the United States of America. No, violence will only end up creating new violence and new oppressors. You see, as long as we secretly envy them and covet what they have, we are doomed to repeat history. What we need is our own playing field. First, we should be working on just what our playing field should look like. Once we can agree on general game rules, we just start playing. We don't let them play.
Oh sure, they'll try to force us to play their old game. They'll take us to their courts and send out their strong armed gangsters, but we'll just go about playing our game and ignoring them. When we are no longer fighting their wars or buying their inflated goods, or paying for their corrupt health corporations, they will lose their source of strength. Because their source of strength has always been their ability to control us and lead us by the nose.
But first, as I said, we must know what it is we want our new playing field to look like.
