"Of course there is a logical explanation", Cathy calmly stated. "It's simply a matter of finding the person with the right answer."
And that, my friends is why I am turning to you. Somewhere out there is a techy who knows the answer to this very strange occurrence.
It happened this morning. Cathy was in the living room looking at the women's golf tournament. I was just stepping out of the shower before going to Physical Therapy. An odd thing to do since I'm going to get all sweaty again. As I stepped into the hallway Cathy hit the mute button and asked in a sharp tone, "What's that sound?"
"Sound? What sound? I don't hear any sound", I babbled.
"Shut your mouth so I can hear!" We both listened intently but no sound came forth.
Cathy reached beside her and opened her purse and extracted her cell phone. "Ah," she cried, "My phone is on and someone rang".
Figuring that it was her sister, about the only one who knows Cathy's cell phone number, I headed for the bed room to dress.
"What the Heck?" Cathy exclaimed. Only she didn't say, "Heck". "What's going on here?" She said in a most puzzled voice.
"Who called?" I asked, coming back into the living room.
"The Fax phone", she declared. The Fax phone called my cell phone." The number is right here."
"Hold on," I said, "Someone called the Fax phone and it bumped them over to your cell phone? How could that happen? Did you somehow program your cell phone number into the Fax phone?"
"Listen to what I'm saying. The Fax phone called my cell phone. It was not a forward. It was not a person. The Fax phone dialed up my cell phone."
I rubbed my chin, dropping my towel. "The Fax phone can't call your cell phone. First of all, it doesn't know your cell phone number. Second, it has no reason to need to call your cell phone. If it wants to talk to you, why wouldn't it just call our regular land line? It must know that number."
"Are you daft?" Cathy shouted, "The fax phone can't call any phone on its own. It's a phone, dummy."
"Well," I said smugly, "It appears that the Fax phone can do exactly that. It can dial up your cell phone because it just did that very thing. And I was in the shower, so I'm innocent!"
I snatched up my towel and stomped triumphantly down the hall.
"Its proof that there are other dimensions," I hollered over my shoulder. "Somewhere, somehow a wire in space and time have crossed or shorted out causing your cell phone to receive a personal call from our Fax phone".
I think the clunk was Cathy throwing her cell phone at me.
We both do agree on one thing. What happened this morning, the Fax phone dialing up her cell phone, simply cannot happen. But it did.
Anyone have a solution? And are we the only ones who've had such a strange event?
