Let's just keep on believing that America has a Free Unbiased Press.
To my way of thinking the press, i.e. the news media has blood on their collective hands when they participate in the encouragement of violence through their eagerness to create headline stories.
Many of today's so called journalists are skilled in setting up just the right trigger words to excite and hold the attention of their viewers/readers. We are a long way removed from reporting the news. Today it's all about entertainment and profit. After a dull dreary day at the fast food joint, slapping out grease burgers to hostile, shoving, rude folks, you settle in front of your TV and wait to be lifted out of your lethargy. And you are lifted into a wonderful Land of shouting, angry people telling the world about their trashy lives, goaded on by drooling hosts. And then there's judge Judy or Joe slamming the gavel and tossing the book at more whackos. And in among all of that is the evening news vying for your attention. "Jazz it up", they tell their reporters. "We gotta keep the sponsors happy".
And there we have it once again. It's not "for the People", it's for the sponsor, the giant sprawling corporate America. Yup, First Class Citizenship does have its privileges.
