just following Wall Streets example

My friend backed his truck into the loading dock of his local CostCo store and began hauling out TV's computers, cases of produce and Christmas toys.  Several clerks, or are they called Associates these days, rushed to see what was going on.
"I'm doing my bit for the economy", my friend said.
"But you're stealing this stuff," the one employee stammered.  "How is that helping anything?"
"I got the idea from Wall Street and the big banks," my friend declared.  "By taking these items I open up space for you to haul more merchandise out of your warehouse and put it on the floor.  This makes room for you to order more trucks full of new stuff.  This keeps the truckers busy as well as the ships that bring it all in from China.  And the best part is that you can write it all off."  He beamed as he clambered into the cab of his truck and fired it up.  The clerks, associates, looked at one another for a moment or two and then rushed for their own vehicles.  "Let's do our bit, too", they declared.
And this is how the example set by Wall Street and the big Banks trickled down to those folks who had been causing the depression in the first place.
