Long before Starbuck
I chuckle when I recall growing up in Ballard in the North end of Seattle. It was called, "Snoose Junction" because of all the Scandinavians living there. I would drop over to the home of a buddy and walk into the kitchen. The smell of strong coffee was always there. A big pot set on the back of the stove. Into this pot my buddy's mom would pour water, then toss in a cupful of coffee grounds and put on the lid. Some folks used eggshells to settle the grounds but most just dipped their cup in and drew out what they wanted. From time to time someone would pour in more water and toss in more coffee. If there was a formula for water versus coffee, I never knew it. But if anyone told you, "This'll put hair on your chest", believe them.
